 describe the image

Name: Rita Abraham

City/State: Los Angeles, CA

Family: Single mom of a 14-year-old boy

Education:

Master’s degree, University of Miskolc, Hungary

New Position:

Full Time Studio Manager at Evoke Inc.

Summary of your professional experience:

I came to Mom Corps LA with a broad background. I have always thought of myself as a generalist.  When you live in a small country like Hungary this is a great advantage.  But, it does not really help you in a job search when you are in the U.S.  Here everyone seems to focus on honing a highly specific, niche skill set.

I came to the United States from Hungary as a journalist then I worked as a Trade Assistant/Trade Specialist at the Hungarian Consulate General, Los Angeles office for 8 years. During this time I was part of amazing projects e.g. the local media campaign of Hungary’s accession to the EU, the establishment of Raleigh Studios Budapest and organized wonderful events. Later I took a position as Marketing Director for an agency that placed health care workers. All these years my passion for creativity was hungry; to help fill my passion for creativity I worked with independent film productions as a hobby.

Why did you turn to Mom Corps?

No other staffing agency better understands the world of working moms than Mom Corps. The first I heard about Mom Corps was at a networking event of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce. When I heard Mom Corps Principal, Kate Pletcher’s, introduction about Mom Corps I said to myself: ”Hallelujah” and reached out to her.

As a working single mom I have been juggling family and work…the road has not been easy. Many times I have felt torn between the two. Mom Corps offers flexible, well-compensated executive positions with benefits designed for moms like me.

Describe your experience working with Mom Corps?

My experience working with Mom Corps has been great. I cannot thank Kate Pletcher from Mom Corps LA enough. She has been warm, caring, professional and supportive throughout the hiring process. Kate took her time, followed up with me personally after each of my interviews and represented me in the negotiation process.  Mom Corps has not only matched with a job but matched me with the most perfect position in the industry. My diverse background and experience helped to get this position. Kate and Mom Cops LA have exceeded my expectations.

How has working with Mom Corps effected your work-life synthesis?

I always wanted to work in a place where my passion for family, creativity, and opportunity to make a difference come together.  Family: I have more time for my son because at Evoke Inc. the emphasis is not on the hours but the job to be done and that works very well with me and my family. This has been a great match for both me and my son. You can only imagine how happy my 14-year-old boy was when he learned that my company creates games, mobile apps, viral videos for movies and we have to attend events like E3, ComiCon, IndieCade! Creativity: everyday we brainstorm and working on creative projects. Making a Difference:  The owner of the company is heavily involved with charities. That makes me feel incredible and since I've been with the company I've participated in two fundraisers.

What is your go-to stress reliever?

Definitely yoga, yoga and yoga. But my ultimate happiness comes when I am out hiking or kayaking with my son.

How would you summarize your overall experience:

I feel great being a part of a mothers’ sisterhood to create a better world, happier families.
